I researched into
Warp Films for a possible distributor for our film. I chose to research warp as
they are a small independent UK film producer. They produce and distribute
films of unusual plot lines and small budgets. This is ideal for our film as it
was made on a small budget and wouldn’t be an ideal plot line that any of the
big six conglomerates would like. Warp Films are a company which produce films
with unknown cast members and they specialise in thrillers.
One film that is similar to ours is a film they produced
called ’71 (In 1971, a young and
disorientated British soldier is accidentally abandoned by his unit following a
riot on the deadly streets of Belfast.), it is an action, drama, thriller. This
is similar to ours as our film is primarily a thriller, but it also has drama
aspects. In the film, he desperately tries to find his way back to safety,
similar to in our film as Lucy is in therapy to try find some comfort from what
happened.
Dead Man’s Shoes is
another film which is similar to ours. It is a crime, drama, thriller, this
embodies the three main themes that run through our film. As our film is a
thriller, drama it runs along the main themes with this film. In this film, a
man is trying to take revenge on a gang of drug dealers for harming his
brother, similar to our film, as Lucy take revenge on her father for him
killing her mother.
Another film production company that could produce our film
is Twisted Pictures. They have produced films like the Saw series. They would
be good for our film as they are a small independent film company and we have a
small budget film, also they mainly produce thrillers and horror films.
In the end we decided to go with Warp picture as they
specialise in independent films and would provide us with production and distribution.
They are good for our film as it is a
small production budget and unusual plot line.
