Shot List

  1. We will start of with a medium Shot in a therapy session with Lucy and Sophia. Sophia is asking Lucy lots of questions and shot-reverse-shot is used with medium close ups of the two characters faces. We will also follow the 180 degree line rule to show continuity with our filming.
  2. Then the scene cuts to a flashback in Lucy's family home and there will be a long shot of a door being slammed open and David will be in the doorway drunk.
  3. Next a close up of Davids face so we can see his facial expression clearly while he is walking into the living room.
  4. An over the shoulder shot will be used to present the argument between David and his wife, Louise. This will be turned into shot-reverse-shot of close ups during their argument.
  5. In addition to this we will use medium long shots alongside match on action while David is throwing things around the living room.
  6. Here, there will be a close up of Lucy watching her parents fight, this is so we can identify her in the scene and it provides a smooth transition to cut back to the therapy session.
  7. Another close up of Lucy's face will be shown but she will back in therapy, she will look confused and hurt by what she's remembering.
  8. A medium shot is used to confirm that we are not in the flashback anymore and Sophia is still asking questions.
  9. There will be a fade in and a hand held shot from Lucy's point of view, we will use jump cuts to disorientate the viewer. We will see a close up of David picking up a bottle and smashing it over Louise's head while she falls to the floor.
  10. Then, cut back to a close up of Lucy's face in the therapy session with a single tear streaming down her face.
  11. The final flashback will be another point of view shot of Lucy frantically running into the kitchen.
  12. An over the shoulder shot will be used to show Lucy searching for a knife.
  13. This will cut to a medium shot of Lucy looking extremely angry.
  14. Then the scene will keep flashing to black and in between there will be close ups of Lucy's face whilst she is walking back to the living room. This will almost be in slow motion to build up tension.
  15. Next, there will be a long shot of David standing over Louise's body, still in slow motion.
  16. A close up of Lucy stabbing David in the Shoulder with a knife.
  17. Another long shot of David falling to the ground.
  18. A close up of the knife dropping to the floor to signify that this is the end.
  19. Finally the screen fades to black and the title of the film fades in with the music.

Throughout our opening sequence in the therapy session we will use slow paced shots to show that it is a calm and relaxed environment for Lucy and there will be no action, however this will be juxtaposed with the fast paced shots that will be used during the flashbacks. This will create tension and show that the event happened too quickly for Lucy to think about what she was doing.
